Former Loyola guard Milton Doyle is set to sign a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets Dec. 18, his agent Keith Kreiter confirmed to The PHOENIX.
A two-way contract is for players who spend most of the season in the G-League — the NBA’s equivalent of the minor leagues — and no more than 45 days with the NBA team. It’s unclear how soon Doyle will be called up to Brooklyn.
Doyle started in 16 of 17 games with the Nets’ G-League affiliate, the Long Island Nets, this season. He averaged 21.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game.
After going undrafted, Doyle signed an NBA Summer League contract with the Nets June 23. In four games, he averaged 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
Doyle wasn’t immediately available for comment. Kreiter said in a statement to The PHOENIX that he feels Doyle will succeed in the NBA after his performance in the G-League.
“We are thrilled for Milt –– he was laser focused from day one and would not be denied,” Kreiter said. “We are incredibly proud of all that he’s accomplished and look forward to Milt making a name for himself in the [NBA].”
The Brooklyn Nets are scheduled to play Dec. 20 against the Sacramento Kings at home.
