Former Loyola guard Donte Ingram is set to report to the NBA G-League — a step below the NBA — after being waived by the Dallas Mavericks Oct. 11, a source with knowledge of the deal told The Phoenix.

In August, The Phoenix reported Ingram would be signing an Exhibit 10 contract with the Mavericks, meaning he reported to training camp with the team Oct. 8. Since he’s going to Dallas’ G-League affiliate, the Texas Legends, Ingram will receive a $50,000 bonus from Dallas, according to his contract.

The deal can be turned into a two-way deal, which would allow Ingram to be called up to the NBA for a maximum of 45 days, according to the NBA collective bargaining agreement.

After the NBA Draft June 22, The Phoenix reported Ingram signed an NBA Summer League contract with the Chicago Bulls. In five Summer League starts, Ingram averaged 6 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game.

As a senior at Loyola last year, Ingram averaged 11 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game en route to being named second team All-Missouri Valley Conference. In the first game of the NCAA Tournament in Dallas, he hit the game-winning shot against University of Miami (Fla.) at the American Airlines Center — which is the Mavericks’ home arena.

The Legends are set to open their season Nov. 3.
