Former Loyola men’s basketball associate head coach Bryan Mullins is bringing another Rambler coach with him to Southern Illinois University.

Mullins, who was named head coach at Southern Illinois March 20, named Jevon Mamon as one of his assistant coaches, the university announced Wednesday afternoon. Mamon spent the last two years as Loyola’s Director of Basketball Operations — his first collegiate coaching job.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jevon to our Saluki Basketball family,” Mullins said in a statement. “He was a huge part of our Final Four run and back-to-back MVC Championships at Loyola Chicago. He will help me establish the type of culture we want in this program right away. His daily energy in the office and on the court is contagious.”

Before joining Porter Moser’s staff in 2017, Mamon was the head boy’s basketball coach at Hyde Park Academy in Chicago. He graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in south suburban Homewood, and played college basketball at Barat College in north suburban Lake Forest.

Mamon couldn’t be reached for comment at the time of publication.
